Aon has debuted a US government contracting practice and appointed Michal Gnatek to head the unit.

The executive will report to John Griffin, Aon’s industry practice leader in North America.

Gnatek joined the brokerage firm as a managing director in early 2023, after serving as department head of enterprise risk management for the Mitre Corporation, a non-profit that operates federally funded R&D centers.

He has more than 25 years of experience in insurance brokerage and human capital consulting with a variety of large and mid-sized government contractors.

His expertise covers adherence to Cost Accounting Standards (CAS); Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR); defense acquisition regulations systems; procedures, guidance and information rules; and compliance with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), among other areas.

In addition, Allison Fogarty, who also recently joined Aon as a managing director, will lead the risk capital team in the firm’s government contracting practice.

She will report to Rebecca Simons from Aon’s Washington, DC office. Fogarty brings more than 28 years of experience in commercial risk, with almost 20 years specializing in working with government contractors of every size and type.

The appointments are the latest in a series of personnel reshuffles and hires at the brokerage firm.

Yesterday, Aon announced the appointment of Broadridge executive Edmund Reese as CFO as of 29 July, as successor to Christa Davies.

Last month, it tapped 20-year Marsh veteran Ryan Barber as global head of property for commercial risk, effective June 24.
