WR Berkley (WRB) reported record quarterly underwriting income for the second straight quarter on Tuesday evening, headlined by core margin improvement, a continued surge in earned premium growth, and catastrophe losses that were more than halved from the year before.

The Greenwich-based specialty company reported $1.08 in operating income per share for the first quarter, well ahead of the $0.81
